What is the Break Zone?
The Break Zone consists of different themed “zones” that provide students with various different practices, modalities and methods to help mitigate stress, anxiety and pressure associated with school, life, and exams. We base this program on the scientific research that says the human brain requires a 15-20 minute break every 45-60 minutes in order to operate at full capacity. When students study for many hours at a time without taking a proper break, they actually increase their stress levels and decrease their ability to retain the information.
The Break Zone was created to provide students with a more effective use of their break time while allowing them to emotionally, mentally, and physically recharge and rejuvenate. By doing so they will be able to study more effectively, retain more information and feel much more relaxed and happy during peak studying times.
How it operates:
For Universities & Colleges
The Break Zone program typically runs either as a full day (or multiple day) event and can even be spread out throughout the course of a week. During a full day Break Zone, there is the opportunity to have 1 or multiple de-stress zones running throughout the day depending on available space. Typically each session will run anywhere between 30 – 60 minutes in length. Sessions can run back to back or with a small break in between. The idea is that students will drop in on whichever session appeals to them the most throughout the day and then return to their classes or studying feeling rejuvenated.
For High Schools & Middle Schools
The Break Zone program run in high schools and middle schools typically offers lunch time session(s) each day for students to de-stress on their lunch break. Depending on time and space we can run 1 or multiple sessions at the same time and each usually runs between 20 – 45 minutes in length.
The Break Zone program can be customized to meet your school’s / organization’s needs, and we welcome out of the box ideas.
